Itinerary

1. 

   Day 1

   Arrive in Reykjavík

   Reykjavík & Aurora At Sea

   • Blue LagoonSoak in Iceland's most famous geothermal spa, a milky blue pool set in a black lava field.
   • HallgrímskirkjaVisit the landmark church of Reykjavík, known for its striking modern facade.
   • Harpa Concert HallAdmire the glass honeycomb architecture and the views across the old harbour.
   • Aurora hunting at seaSail out of the harbour, away from the city lights, to look for the Northern Lights.

   Day 3

   The Golden Circle

   • Þingvellir National ParkWalk the rift valley where two continental plates pull apart, beside a wide lake.
   • Geysir Geothermal AreaWatch Strokkur send a column of boiling water into the air every few minutes.
   • GullfossSee the river drop in two great steps into a deep canyon, loud and full of spray.

   Day 4

   Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss & Reynisfjara

   • SeljalandsfossWatch this waterfall fall like a curtain, with a path that leads right behind the water.
   • SkógafossStand close to one of Iceland's classic waterfalls and feel the spray from its 60-metre drop.
   • Reynisfjara Black Sand BeachWalk the black volcanic sand and look out at the basalt columns and Atlantic waves.

   Day 5

   Katla Ice Cave & Jökulsárlón

   • Katla Ice CaveHead deep into the glacier to walk through chambers of clear blue ice.
   • Jökulsárlón Glacier LagoonSee huge blocks of ice drifting slowly across the lagoon below the glacier.
   • Diamond BeachWatch clear ice wash up on the black sand, glittering like scattered diamonds.

   Hengifoss, Seyðisfjörður & Stuðlagil

   • HengifossHike up to a tall waterfall that falls past red and black bands of layered rock.
   • SeyðisfjörðurWander a quiet fjord town of coloured timber houses ringed by steep mountains.
   • Stuðlagil CanyonLook down into a deep canyon of basalt columns with bright blue water running through it.

   Day 7

   Mývatn, Goðafoss & Akureyri

   • Lake MývatnCircle a lake ringed by craters, lava formations and steaming geothermal ground.
   • GoðafossWatch the waterfall of the gods pour over a wide curve of dark rock.
   • AkureyriExplore the main town of north Iceland, set between the mountains and a long fjord.

   Day 8

   Kolugljúfur & Þingeyrar

   • Kolugljúfur CanyonFollow a narrow canyon where a series of waterfalls drop through raw volcanic rock.
   • ÞingeyraklausturskirkjaVisit a historic stone church standing alone in the quiet northern countryside.

   Day 9

   Snæfellsnes Peninsula
